I am a Green Connector with Greener Cleaner Firs & Bromford in Hodge Hill, Birmingham, UK. The role involves working with local residents and partner organisations in the Firs & Bromford neighbourhood to encourage gardening, community growing and development of local green spaces. There are a number of small growing and garden sites across the neighbourhood including a school garden, an urban allotment and garden at a local sheltered housing scheme, public planters and a small food growing and plant sharing space at a local church.
I have a background in horticulture, community organisations and research support, and I also work as a freelance gardener and garden designer. I have RHS Level 2 and Level 3 Certificates in Practical Horticulture and have received Gold, Silver Merit and Silver awards for show borders at both RHS and BBC Gardeners’ World shows.
I am a licensed Gardeniser, having completed the GardeniserPro course in March 2019. I am also part of the Eden Community Projects network, Cultivation Street community gardening network, and the Mother Gardens urban and home growing project across numerous sites and groups in Birmingham.
I am in the process of training with Gardeniser Hub to enable me to support the delivery of future Gardeniser training courses.
